Lutheran Church of the Foothills joins in ministry with many organizations, including:
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has more than four million members who actively participate in God’s work in the world.
The Grand Canyon Synod is one of 65 synods in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). There are approximately 89 ELCA congregations in the Grand Canyon Synod. The territory of this synod is all of Arizona, a few counties in Nevada, and the city of St. George in Utah.
Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network (TIHAN), with 48 participating faith communities, offers hearts and hands to provide compassionate and non-judgmental service to people affected by HIV/AIDS.
ReconcilingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation advocates for the full welcome, inclusion, and equity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their church, congregations, and community. Lutheran Church of the Foothills is a Reconciling in Christ congregation.
Arizona Interfaith Power and Light (AZIPL) is a ministry devoted to deepening the connection between ecology and faith. Their goal is to help people of faith recognize and fulfill their responsibility for the stewardship of creation.
Sunrise Neighborhood Assistance Program (SNAP) provides an array of “neighbors helping neighbors” volunteer services, education programs, and social events that assist and support residents who are aging-in-place in their own homes. The area they serve is bordered by North Craycroft Road, East Sunrise Drive, North Kolb Road, and East River Road. Their office is in Lutheran Church of the Foothills’ building.
Interfaith Community Services (ICS) is a nonprofit, social services agency serving Pima County, Arizona, including metropolitan Tucson. With support from diverse faith partners and compassionate volunteers, ICS fill critical gaps in human services.
On the third Friday of each month our congregation provides a dinner to the men staying at the Primavera Foundation Men’s Shelter in Tucson.
Each month our Community Service Team identifies a specific need, local or world-wide, and encourages giving in some way to that ministry. Click on the Newsletter tab to read about this month’s “Offering of Service” in the latest edition of “Weekly Footnotes.”
We also encourage those in our worshiping community to participate on their own in serving God through their support of various organizations throughout our community and world. Visit our church building to look at the display wall in our Activities Room showing the many ways individuals at Lutheran Church of the Foothills participate in sharing God’s blessings.
